Action Ottawa Affordable Housing Competition, Ottawa, Ontario
This proposed affordable housing development was Peter Mansfield Architect’s submission to a 2012 design competition held by the City of Ottawa. Our submission focused on creating a residential community with a variety of housing typologies on the south-west corner of the 4.2ha site located at 800 Montreal Road. The design approach is based on sustainability, pedestrian scale and accessibility.
The intent of the two separate modestly scaled structures was to provide a development sensitively scaled with the surrounding residential neighbourhood, while creating a very permeable site encouraging social interaction within the central common.
